Blackie and the Rodeo Kings hit the road with Kings and Kings

February 25, 2017 | By

Blackie and the Rodeo Kings released their latest record, Kings and Kings, this past fall in Canada, and in early 2017 in the US of A.

They haven’t been out on the road with it yet … the tour kicks off at Massey Hall in Toronto tonight, February 25, and if what I’ve been hearing is true, not only will they be kicking it with their superb rhythm section of Gary Craig and John Dymond, but they’ll have a couple of great keyboard players with them as well.

From Toronto they head north and then west, with an Eastern tour coming later in the year. You can find all the details on their web site.

Here are a trio of videos to give a sense of what is in store with these shows.

Land of the Living. On the record, Tom Wilson duets with Jason Isbell on this tune. Here he does it with Thompson Wilson at a Lee Harvey Osmond Show.

High Wire. On the album, Stephen Fearing duets with Raul Melo of the Mavericks, but in this video from his very recent tour in Europe, he goes it alone.

Playing by Heart. A tour de force with Colin Linden and Buddy Miller on Kings and Kings, but last fall B&RK did a couple of trio shows out west and that’s where this happened.
